The manta ray (Manta birostris) are the largest living rays. Manta rays can be found throughout the tropical seas of the world, close to the coast, as well as out in the open water. These majestic sea creatures are harmless, but should not be provoked. They have been reported to be as large as 29 1/2’ wide (although 22’ is more likely). Imagine that for a moment! Manta rays feed on plankton, as well as pelagic crustaceans and small fishes.
